Born in New York. He graduated with honours in composition, arranging, and jazz piano from Berklee College of Music.
As “cultural ambassador” of the United States, he spent one year in Asia, taking his music to various countries. He worked at El Aula de Música (Barcelona), El Taller de Músicos, and as a teacher and musical theater director at Kensington Elementary School (Barcelona), and The American School (Aravaca, Madrid).
He is the author of “Técnicas Básicas de Jazz para Teclados”, the first jazz keyboard method written and published in Spain.
As a keyboardist and vocalist, he has performed with numerous pop, flamenco pop and country groups and co-directed the group Por Supuesto Rhythm and Blues. He currently leads the rhythm and blues quintet Screamin’ Mimis, and plays solo or in duo and trio settings.
He was director of Jazz Studies at the Jacinto Guerrero Conservatory in Toledo. Andy also sings jingles for radio and television commercials and takes his seminar “Jazz in the Classroom” around Spain to public schools and conservatories. He has been a part of the Escuela de Música Creativa for more than 20 years and is now Ensamble Coordinator as well as professor of piano, improvisation, history and analysis of modern music and ensemble.
